It seems like every social platform that I browse through for more than 10 seconds makes sure I stumble upon some sort of AI ad. It's usually something like "never do outbound sales EVER AGAIN with this AI" or "apply to 5000 companies with that AI". Recently, all I'm seeing is "have AI create all your social media content in 1 click!!".
Don't get me wrong. Get your bread. Make your money. Money leads to progress. Money is the king of all incentives. Capitalism is important.
But...
Alongside that financial incentive, there's a ton AI can do in the non-profit world. I'd love to see RAG implementations with government services to help individuals navigate complex programs or conversationally determining what grants individuals may be eligible for. Maybe predictive supply chain algorithms with an LLM monitoring setup to assist food banks anticipate peak usage times.
There's so much progress to help in realizing.
Even if talented AI devs spent just 10% of their time focused on non-profit ai initiatives, I'm sure it'll make a huge impact.
To prove to myself that this isn't just some virtue signalling I'm doing on a Tuesday night, I'll lead with action.
I'm going to start an initiative that ensures ai being applied to non-profits for positive impact.
Objective #1: accessible info for food banks across the Toronto area.
